Don’t just jump on the mobile app bandwagon!
I’ve noticed a significant increase in ‘FREE’ mobile app adverts appearing within the various social media platforms. These glitzy looking apps seem to be enticing the small business owner, but before you are drawn by the bright lights can I ask you to stop and think about the following:-
1. Is a mobile app appropriate for your type of business? – often apps work well for restaurants, coffee shops, beauty salons and similar where ongoing offers can be redeemed. The question is does your business lend itself to this type of marketing?
2. Think about your target audience – what are you going to do to encourage them to download your app initially? Don’t be deluded into thinking that it will be a given!
3. What is your strategy for this app? It must serve a purpose so what do you want it to do for your business?
4. How are you going to keep users engaged and using your app frequently? This isn’t a one off investment of time.
Please don’t get me wrong, mobile apps most certainly have their place in society but you really must consider if this is the right approach for your business before embarking on this form of marketing. It can be damaging to your brand to start something that you’re not going to see through. For advice on mobile marketing and more, please call It’s Ideal.
